History

This will be an area that describes who we are. Not necessarily the whole history - just a brief summary. The paragraph below will be for "filler" purposes - until we have more content for the site.

Plans for the new Fountain Sanitation District Treatment Plant were first proposed in the mid 80's. The formal process began in 1995. The Fountain Sanitation District contracted GMS, Consulting Engineers of Colorado Springs to prepare the facilities plan. In May of 1996, the citizens of Fountain Sanitation District voted to fund partial construction costs for the plant.

The $3.6 million facility went on line in July 1998. Forty seven percent of the construction costs were funded through a revolving loan fund that will be paid back over a 20 year period, and the balance of construction costs were paid by Fountain Sanitation District reserve funds.
